What to Expect:  Fees & Compensation

We believe in transparency in how we are compensated for our services. This page is meant to serve as a basic guide; please feel free to ask your advisor any questions about your specific needs so that we can help you make informed decisions.

Investment Management

We offer both fee-based asset management solutions and transactional investment options, selecting the approach that best aligns with your needs and interests. Investment management costs vary based on the type of investments in your portfolio and the value of the assets we manage for you. These costs are deducted directly from your investment account rather than being invoiced.

There are two primary ways that we can be compensated depending on the type of account:

Commissions: A commission-based account normally is a passive, buy-and-hold investment account; you can think of the costs of this type of account as being “transactional.” The commission charges vary depending the type of investments, but it is normally a one-time percentage of the amount you invest.  Sometimes paying for something once and holding it for a long time is the best and least expensive way to own an investment.

Advisory fees: A fee-based account is actively managed by your advisor and our strategic partners, so we charge an ongoing fee for our services. The fee is a percentage of the assets that we manage for you.

Financial Planning

During a formal financial planning engagement, we charge an hourly fee for our time. Based on the complexity of the work, some plans come with a cap on the associated fees.  At the time of your plan delivery, you will receive an invoice which can be paid by check or credit card.
